26, rue du Labrador

It is in this apartment that Tintin will live until the "Land of black gold" adventure. If we trust the clues left in his flat and outside of it (uniforms, stamps, etc.), Tintin could be settled in Belgium. To draw Tintin's first home Hergé had been inspired by the flats in the "rue de Terre-Neuve".

His first apartment is quite impersonally furnished. However we find some souvenirs brought from China. It seems that Tintin moved floor between "The Crab with the golden claws" and "The Shooting Star". Because he was first living in the first floor and then goes to the second without any changes set in the album. The answer still stays a mystery. Later on in his adventures Tintin will leave this flat to go on a modern one with large windows.

Marlinspike Hall (The Cheverny Castle)

Photo 1 - Photo 2

Marlinspike Hall became Captain Haddock's main home after "The Red Rackham's treasure" adventure. It was the Bird Brothers' one before it. Nestor will still be the butler of this castle which will have Professor Calculus and Tintin and Snowy as main inhabitants.

To draw Marlinspike Hall, Hergé was inspired by the Cheverny Castle situated in France. However he eliminated the left and right wings of the Castle. And to find his name, Hergé reversed the name of a Belgian village called Sart-Moulin. (In French Marlinspike Hall is said Moulinsart).

The Cheverny Castle is situated in Val de Loire, between the Chambord and Chenonceau Castles. You can easily access to it from Paris or by train.

Hercules Tarragon's house

Here is the famous Tarragon's house. To draw this villa, Hergé had been inspired by a real house situated near Brussels. But as you can see the garden has been drawn bigger than in reality.

L'Hôtel Cornavin

Here is the famous Cornavin Hotel. It has become very popular in Switzerland.
The mythic room of Professor Calculus hasn't always existed. Indeed the room number 122 has been built in 1999 during the Hotel renovation.
However the key of this room has been often stolen but inside of this new styled bedroom, no Tintin decoration have been made.

Here is the Professor Topolino's house where Professor Calculus had to go to in order to speak to him about his ultrasounds machine. But unfortunately he will be kidnapped before and the house will explode because of a bomb put in the house's basement.

Herge streets

It's been very long but in January 2003 for the first time Angouleme (a French town) changed the name of one of its street. The pedestrian "Marengo street" became "Rue Hergé" (Hergé street).
It is the second time that a street is named as "Hergé"- the county of Céroux-Mousty in Belgium has also changed the name of the "Ferrières street" which was the street where Hergé lived with his wife Germaine. The house is still there near another comics drawer's one called Jacques Martin.
